Many thanks to everyone who contributed to our clothes collection. All the bags of unwanted materials & clothes were collected today , we had a large amount of bags and therefore were not surprised to discover the weight of all these clothes earned us €700.00 .We wish to express our gratitude to the community for your help in raising these funds.

This week Ms Byrne’s Junior and Senior Infants are learning all about healthy lifestyles.

In SPHE we examined the food pyramid, we learned that getting plenty of sleep and exercise also helps us to stay healthy.

Today in Science, we had great fun making delicious healthy smoothies.  We made three different flavours , banana, strawberry and banana, strawberry and raspberry.

Not only did we cover being healthy as part of Science and SPHE, but we also covered ” Procedural Writing” in the English curriculum. Our steps were as follows:

1. Put the fruit in the blender.

2. Add milk and yogurt.

3. Turn on the blender.

4. Pour smoothie into a glass and enjoy 😉

Food Dudes is a programme designed to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables both in school and at home.

This programme is commencing with the junior classes on Thursday 26th February. Junior & Senior Infants and first & second class will receive one portion of a different fruit and one portion of a different vegetable every day for 16 days  926th February to 23rd March. If the children taste each of these they will receive a reward. After the 16 days, children are encouraged to continue to eat fruit and vegetables for their breaks & lunch. If they do so they will receive a certificate after a certain amount of days.
